About Hedi Steinberg

Hedi Steinberg was born in Czechoslovakia in 1924. During the Holocaust, she was imprisoned in the Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps. After the war, she escaped from Bergen-Belsen and made her way to freedom. She eventually settled in the United States, where she became a tireless advocate for Holocaust education and remembrance.

Hedi Steinberg passed away in 2012 at the age of 88. She is survived by her son, Jiri, and her daughter, Eva. Her legacy continues through the Hedi Steinberg Holocaust Education Center, which she founded in 2004.
